Case Study: Cashflow Crisis

Challenge: The client was a 30+ employee company with a very innovative service package delivered in a specialised market. The company wanted to expand the market for its existing package and to launch two new packages. Advice was sought from one of Axxos on how to proceed.

Analysis: During their initial review, we immediately noticed that the company was about to run out of cash. They had entered into a debt repayment arrangement which ran well ahead of their current capacity to generate cash. Aggravating this situation was poor productivity, with a relatively low turnover per employee. (Nevertheless, the company had an outstanding service package.)

Solution: Renegotiate debt arrangements and adjust employee numbers to better match current revenue. Linked with this were a series of management improvements to prevent any recurrence of gaps in management attention.

Learning: When working with clients to solve declared problems, it is very wise to make sure that there are not other problems which could severely affect outcomes. And running out of cash is about as severe as they can get.
